Embedded Engineering is looking for a senior embedded software engineer to expand our team in Rijswijk (on the northern edge of Delft).
About the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable senior embedded software engineer who can take responsibility for all aspects of software development for microcontrollers, DSPs and other embedded processors. You will be involved in our projects in the Defense and Security industry, acting as one of the lead software engineers in the team. The team you will be working in consists of a project manager, system engineer, multiple embedded software engineers and one or more hardware engineers.

Our remuneration package includes (among other benefits) 31 days of paid vacation per year, profit sharing, a pension plan, a company phone or phone allowance and company lunches. Your starting salary will depend on your experience and qualifications. Fulltime employment at Embedded Engineering is 40 hours per week. Parttime employment (with a minimum of 24 hours per week) is possible. You will receive an annual pay rise depending on performance relative to your targets, that are agreed upon annually.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Take on a leading role in the software team within a project
- Define and monitor software planning (together with the project manager)
- Management and training of junior software engineers
- Develop embedded software in C, C++ and/or other languages
- Individually carry responsibility for documentation and testing of your code
- Report progress to project managers, and maintain status of your tasks in our agile project management tools.
- Identify and work on areas for improvement in the company’s software development process
Skills
The following skills are required for this position:
- Excellent proficiency in at minimum C and/or C++
- Experience with Agile or similar software development methodologies
- Understanding of low-power embedded software design
- Knowledge of interfacing protocols and embedded systems concepts such as SAI, SPI, USB, I2C, encryption schemes, bootloaders, RTOS, Linux and unit testing
- General understanding of programmable hardware components (gauges, USB controllers, power delivery, radio's)
The following skills are not required but preferred:
- Experience with wireless/RF systems
- Understanding of (embedded) AI model implementation.
- Experience coding for FPGAs in VHDL or Verilog
- Implementation of analysis and signal processing algorithms
Qualifications and education
The following education requirements apply for this position:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, embedded systems, applied physics or similar
- Preferred: Master’s degree / Ph.D
- OR: relevant work experience equivalent to the technical fields above
Experience
At minimum we require:
- Eight years of experience with embedded software development
- Five years of experience working in multidisciplinary project teams

Our work is focused heavily on innovation; research and development work is the core of our business. We currently employ approximately 30 engineers, mostly specialised in the development of hardware and embedded software. Our ambition is to grow our company to 100 employees by the year 2030.

Our products are generally developed on low power small footprint ARM core which can perform simple tasks such as real time sensor readings up to secure signal processing, egde-AI analysis for on-person assistance or early warning systems.
